Monica G. ORear

Mrs. Monica G. ORear of rural Du Bois departed this life at her residents on Monday , December 25, 2000 at 6:30 p.m. after an extended illness. She had attained the age of 43 years, 3 months, and 23 days.
Mrs. ORear was born in Pinckneyville on August 30, 1957 the daughter of Leonard and Mary (Rozycki) Konkel. She was united in marriage to Michael ORear at St. Charles Catholic Church at Du Bois, on April 5, 1986 and to this union two sons, were born.
Monica was a 1975 graduate of Nashville Community High School. She was a member of the first Nashville Community High School Ladies Track Team of 1975. She later was a member of the Kaskaskia College Womens Basketball, softball, and  volleyball teams and graduated in 1977. She was a member of the Nashville Pharmacy Womens Softball team for many years and was the founder of the Darts Womens softball team. Monica enjoyed all sports and was an avid bowler.
Mrs. ORear was Post Master at the Pinckneyville Post Office at the time of her passing. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church at Du Bois and the St. Ann Catholic Church of Nashville. She was a member of the St. Theresa Altar Sodality, the St. Ann Parish Council and was a member of the Nashville Community High School Sports Boosters. Monica was Athletic Director at St. Ann Catholic School at Nashville and was the St. Ann Track Coach.
Left to mourn her passing is her husband, Michael ORear and their two sons, Calvin and Lucas, her parents, Leonard and Mary Konkel all of rural Du Bois; two brothers, Marion (Rose) Konkel of Pinckneyville, Bob (Elaine) Konkel of Du Bois; two sisters, Karen (Dave) Blumhorst of Addieville and Connie (Gary) Moeller of Nashville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Roxie ORear; three sisters-in-law Ronna (Pat) Jenne, Susan (Bill) Kohring and Kelly (Mike) Parkinson all of Coulterville; her God Mother, Anna Marie Pinski of Nashville; numerous nieces, nephews, other relation and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmie Konkel.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Charles Catholic Church of Du Bois on Thursday, December 28, 2000 at 10 a.m. with Msgr. Melvin Vandeloo officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Friends called at St. Charles Catholic Church in Du Bois on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.
The Rosary was  recited at the St. Charles Catholic Church at Du Bois at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer Mass offerings, memorials to St. Charles Catholic Church Building Fund, St. Ann Catholic School, or Nashville Community High School Sports Boosters.
